Goodbye Preschool . . . Hello Summer!

Fairwood Preschool wishes all of the 2010 graduates the best of luck in Kindergarten. Fairwood will break for summer fun until August 25th when we will begin another year of learning, laughing, and language!
Summer School will be held at Stella May Swartz Elementary School in Oakbrook Terrace July 7-30th from 8:45-12:15.

Fairwood Preschool is a SASED (School Association of Special Education in DuPage County) program for three to five year old children who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Full or half day sessions are available five days a week. The school has five classes which provide a child friendly environment that is rich in communication and language building experiences. All teachers are certified in the area of Deaf education. The support staff are also experienced in working with children who have a hearing loss. Total Communication is the program philosophy; therefore visual supports and sign language are used in all but two classes. For students who qualify, there are classes that use the oral/aural approach for learning. A full range of therapies are also available dependent on the child's individual needs as well as opportunities for families to become involved in the learning and developmental process.
Our mission is to provide a supportive, caring and individualized education to students with a hearing loss by assisting each child in attaining academic and personal achievement commensurate with his/her abilities.
Our philosophy is that every child can learn. Children are emerged in language enriched classrooms led by certified teachers of the Deaf. Students are given the support of using Total Communication (speech, sign, visual, and written communication) in order to ensure a learning environment conducive to each individual's needs.
